I love Italian restaurants. I especially love new Italian restaurants that don’t cover everything in the St. Louis tradition of provel cheese. I doubly especially love Italian Restaurants who make their own pastas. There is a new place in Clayton called Bocci Bar that fits the mold and offers more contemporary Italian fare in a tapas style. Right up my alley. A group of us went to try it out.
We started with a salami plate and then everyone ordered a salad. I got the Bocci Salad with Bibb lettuce and avocados with a lemon shallot vinaigrette. Great salad.
This was Ryan’s pappardelle bolognese. I had a bite, it tastes as good as it looks.
Kevin’s Lobster Spaghetti. Also had a bite and also so good.
This was the special that Emily ordered. It was flat gnocchi with tomatoes, mushrooms, spring peas, and a frisee salad on top.
Bethanie and I both wanted the special and the roasted artichoke flatbread. It worked out great because we split both. Then Erin ordered roasted asparagus and broccoli rabe for the table.
So this is my plate. It’s a bit of a chaotic mess, but I was happy happy. I got to try all kinds of things. The food was great. The service is a little slow, but it was our server’s 3rd shift.
A fun night out with fun friends. Let 4th of July weekend festivities commence!
