September 3rd, 2010

Friday night and date night! My parents took the girls for an overnight and Trent and I went out with the people in the Central West End.  We started at Sub Zero Vodka Bar with Julie, Ben, Erin, Casey, and Jocelyn where we all had dinner.  Oddly enough the boys all had burgers and the girls all had sushi.  Gender roles defined through cuisine, check!

During dinner we were reminiscing about the soft drink Clearly Canadian from our youth, we all decided it our teen years it was a go to gas station treat.  Our fondest flavor

Was the orchard peach.  Ben’s friend, Ryan, was working at Sub Zero and we asked if they still had Clearly Canadian.  Ryan went to check, came back, and a drink was born.

Vodka and Clearly Canadian on the rocks.  I think the Clearly Canadian people have missed the boat on this, their stuff is perfect to mix with booze!  Casey liked it so much he ordered one for himself.

We also fond out Ben and a weird obsession with

$2 bills???  Apparently whenever he’s at a bank, he asks for them.  Hmmm……

After Sub Zero we went to the courtyard at Scape American Bistro.  Trent and Ben had cigars burning a hole in their pocket (excuse the blatant pun).  It was a little chilly (Erin was smart for bringing a sweater) and I felt the wine pours for the price was a little steep considering we live in the Midwest and all.

After the boys finished their cigars, we all walked across the courtyard to Mandarin Lounge.

The group at Mandarin!  We definitely brought the median age up with our presence.  I would say we were probably the only people in our 30’s there.  And it was one of those bars where just the boys had to pay a cover.  I think the last time I was in a club like that was actually in my 20’s.  But it was warm and had good people watching.  Those whippersnappers were quite the energetic partiers.

Trent and I out and about with the people on our date night.  Good thing we learned from Tina Fey and Steve Carell things can go very awry if we steal a reservation beforehand.

Fun night out that didn't end up with us almost getting killed! Sweet!
