Family fun Saturday! We started off the day meeting Julie, Ben, Bryan, and Noni at Black Cat Theater in Maplewood to see their rendition of The Three Little Pigs. It’s great, they do a 40 minute play and they do different fairy tales, perfect for my attention span the kids attention span.
The characters come out after the play to meet the kids and take pictures with them. Julie and I tried to get a good one of all the cousins. This was the best one.
This was the second best one.
Lauren tried on the big bad wolf’s head. She said it smelled like hay…..
We went to Schlafly Bottleworks down the street afterwards for lunch. They don’t have a kids menu, but there’s tons of stuff the kids like there. It’s always a tasty lunch. Highly recommend the Bison Burger!
After a big lunch and an afternoon of being sequestered in the basement finishing up getting my things ready for the Stork Lady Consignment Sale, I was in the mood for mellow dinner and just made my southwest salad and added avocados.
It’s mixed greens, beans, corn, chives, cilantro, avocados, and crushed tortilla chips with a bbq ranch dressing. The dressing part gets pretty intricate, you mix equal parts of bbq sauce and ranch. I also made cornbread muffins because the girls love them with butter and honey….lots of honey. In fact I can’t put the honey on the muffins until the kids are seated and watching because otherwise the honey “melts” into the muffin and they don’t believe I put an adequate amount.
I also made guacamole, which is a family favorite. Trent gave the girls a bath before dinner, but after dinner we decided to head to Stone Cold Creamery….pjs and all.
What, you never brought your kids in pajamas to get some ice cream in a public place before? It’s totally normal.
