July 4th, 2010

We had Julie, Ben, and the kids over for a 4th of July barbecue.  Of course, out of the whole weekend, the moment I went to light the barbecue was the moment it decided to rain pour.

But no worries, because my dad bought Trent an umbrella the year we moved to the Hill.  You can’t live on the hill without an umbrella with Italian flair.

Worked out great and the minute all the food was done it stopped raining.  That Mother Nature was being tricky with Jenny!

Steak with blue cheese or a raw herb/garlic sauce (fancy chefs on TV call it a chimichurri), potato salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and roasted asparagus with mixed greens for the adults.

DSC08253 Apparently I was in a yellowish/orange mood with the kid’s menu.  Not sure what that is about, but I wasn’t wasting steak on the kids with the “you have to at least take one bite” game.  When we entertain I like to make sure the kids have food they recognize and would want to eat to make everyone’s meal more mellow.  But come tomorrow, it’s back to force feeding encouraging the girls to eat my non-fun mommy food.

Still not sure if I liked the blue cheese or the fancy chimichurri sauce better...both were so good!
