Lauren lost her first tooth yesterday, so we had a little visit from a fairy friend.
She deemed Lauren’s tooth worth $2.00.
We had another milestone, our first tomato in the garden!
It was just one that was ripe, but I cannot wait until we are (hopefully) busting at the seems with tomatoes.
Lauren was excited to pick it and have it for a snack.
And show off her missing tooth.
I am not a fan of our front porch. (How’s that for a segue, which is how you spell “segway”, it took 4 adults and google to figure that out, but that’s another segue…) It’s small, boring, and bare. The boring and bare part are pretty much my fault because all I’ve done is put flowering container plants on it and called it a day. Then in the winter we have dead potted plants on a boring front porch. The new front door gave me the motivation to put a seating area together. It is a front porch after all and meant to sit and watch the neighborhood activity (basically an acceptable way in society to be nosey with your neighbor’s activities, if you don’t have a chair, you’re a stalker).
There was a closeout at Lowe’s and on an outing there it all came together.
I really like how it turned out. The rug is really a welcome mat, but the porch is small, so small items were needed to make it work.
My father in law is going to love it come evening cigar time when he comes to visit. Trent and I sat outside that night and watched the kids play….and got bit up my many a mosquito. Isn’t that how it always works.
For dinner I made a family favorite, penne and meatballs. In the meantime, Lauren had a tomato to deal with.
Meatball goodness. I don’t have a recipe for meatballs, but I put the same ingredients almost every time. Lean ground meat, an egg, breadcrumbs, grated onion juice, chopped garlic, parmesan cheese, a little squirt of ketchup (don’t tell my dad this), parsley, salt and pepper.
The other thing I love about making penne with meatballs is the leftovers. Perfect to pack for Trent’s lunches and for lunch or a quick early dinner for the girls. That and it eats.

Definitely looking forward to spending time in the new seating area!! Now we won't look weird just standing on our porch watching the neighborhood activity!
It'll probably have to wait until this fall though given the heat and bugs!
